Applique Thursday! and a Must see Owl at Angie's

My day has not gone as planned.  I'm sure that always does NOT surprise me.....grin.
I finally found the bonus block of Snowbound that I had
some what started a couple of months ago.

Don't forget to stop at Angie's A Quilting Readers Garden and post your applique link.
She is working on the cutest owl applique I've every seen.

Fat Quarter Star Quiltalong and a Question.

Block 1

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is the second fairly new line of Moda fabric that I've used in the last couple of months.  It seems to be thinner than the older collections, less vibrant, and stiffer.  Has anyone else noticed this, or is it my imagination.
Thanks!
Blogger Award........................
The Award
I WAS AWARDED
Award
Earlier this week, Linda G from Stray Stitches awarded me and 14 other bloggers with the Versatile Blogger Award .  I'm very honored to receive this award.
Thank you Linda!!
There are rules to this award...
1. Thank and link back to the person who gave you the award.
2. Share seven things about yourself on the post.
3. Pass the award to fifteen bloggers that you think deserve it.
4. Lastly, contact all of the bloggers that you've picked for the award.
Here are seven things about me...
1. I Love the Lord!
2.  I adore my DH and my kids.  It's been quite an adventure being in this family.
They always keep me on my toes.
3.  Mick and I met in high school when we were 16 and 17.
In January, we will be married 46 years and I still look the same.....NOT!!
LOL
4.  I'm a hermit and go out very little without Mick unless I'm with my family or my friend Kathy.
Once in a while Carol from Bastrop shames me into leaving the house...giggle.
5. My favorite music is Christian, County, and Rock.....grin...I know that's a strange combo,
but then again I'm pretty strange myself.
4. Bad weather scares me!!
6.  I love to draw and watercolor, but am currently consumed by quilting.
7.  I'm a colon cancer surviver.....10 years now!! and my Dear Mick
survived brain surgery 6 years ago.
I'm not sure which of our 9 lives we are on right now....lost count but
Praise the Lord! we have more time together.
Now I have to pass this on to 15 other bloggers.  This is a hard one, but here we go in no particular order.
There are many, many more wonderful blogs that I love and post on regularly.
A Win - Buffalo Dip
Applique Thursday!
(click to enlarge picture)
The applique blocks are the same.  However, on the block on the right I
followed the video I posted last Thursday.  I sewed as much of the blanket stitch
that I could without stopping and starting.
You can see by the back that I did have less tie offs.  I probably could have incorporated the 4 buds as well.  I did have one extra because my thread broke.  I'm sure the stitching is much stronger without all the little knots everywhere.
I love this method!
Prayer Request
Nan (Lulu) from Grandmas-bits and pieces made it through her surgery.
http://grandmas-bitsandpieces.blogspot.com/2011/09/long-but-successful-day.html
Her son posted the details on her blog.  She's also a member of the CyberQuilters yahoo group and probably others.
Please keep good thoughts and prayers for our friend.
A BOM Block 4
A little wonky on the corner.
Followup on the Hallelujah Chorus (warning it sounds a little like a sermon but it's not)
(I didn't get my Bible out to double check all the facts)
I must admit I rarely understand the meaning to a song. I either like it or I don't. It's like a poem....if you mean a tree you should call it a tree.....grin. You can tell I didn't do good/well (LOL) in Literature or Grammar.
JUST MY TAKE:
The song does refer to David and Samson and the beautiful women in their lives.  (Both great movies too.  Grandma Jessie took me) We know both guys loved the Lord yet they fell flat on their face.
For 'me' I see what a mess they make of their lives for earthly pleasures (and I have made many), and we can STILL cry out to God and there He is.  The Hallelujah part for me is...we can Praise the Lord in all things even after we mess up.  Forgiveness is there.
When I'm at my worst (I guess that's a word) I often can do little but Praise the Lord.....a Hallelujah Chorus would fit the bill for me, but I know not for everyone.
If God still loved David and Samson after they missed a step (a big step), then he can still love me. Some human people find that impossible...giggle.....for real.
To sum it up.  This song gives me Hope.
Probably a song is as personal as the listener. I did debate weather to post this song, but Rhema's voice is a gift from God for sure and I wanted to share it!  It most likely is too mature for her, but she did do it justice.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

There seems to be many meanings listed here.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hallelujah_(Leonard_Cohen_song) based on who made the song their own.

Hey that's my sermon for the year.  Don't run away it 'probablyyyyy' won't happen again....grin.

Love Johnny Ray and the rain.  It's not a lot, but I got wet walking to the street praising Jesus!

Applique Thursday!

Cobblestone Lane Block 6

I finished the Blanket Stitch on this block.  I have one more duplicate block to go.
If I'm brave enough, I might try to accomplish fewer stops and starts as show in the video below.
There were lots of threads to pull to the back and tie off many of which I had sewn over.  It looks a little like a flat birdsnest on the back.
Maybe I created a new thread design....smile.

As suggested by Wendy over at Ivory Spring, I used YLI silk thread.  I loved this thread and already had plenty on hand for my hand applique.  She said you can just use normal thread in the bobbin.
She also has great tutorials for machine applique.

Applique Thursday.....forget the break....grin.

It's all Ironed on.  NOW what...grin.

Don't forget to go check out Angie's A Quilting Reader's Garden  She's making great progress on her applique.

I've given up on taking a break. The wildfires keep drawing me back anyway to check out the latest.
I'm safe, but almost 1400 homes have been destroyed. It's so sad.

Father God, please give all those that have been affected by these wild fires 'Your Peace' as 'You' take them 'through' this next chapter in their lives.  Amen

Just taking a Break!

Nothing important.  I'm just taking a computer break.  I find myself spending most of the day on this little machine.

I'm turning this sucker off and give my old hands a rest.  Don't have too much fun without me.  Off to clean the house......grin....yeah right.

Cobble Lane BOM progress

I finally got all these little pieces cut out for two identical blocks.
They are being guarded by the only puppy I have left.
This sweet dog was given to me by my friend Kate.  Yes, is nose is missing.
It kept falling off, so I put it in my drawer so one of the grandkids wouldn't try to eat it....LOL.
They were still young when it fell off.

When not guarding my fabric, he spends his time on the window seat looking for squirrels

Applique Thursday - A Start

At this rate, I can drag this block out for several months.....grin.
Not much progress at all.  I hope I can cut it out better than I drew the lines.

I did go to the doctors today and get some medicine.
Cough, Cough!

Don't forget to go to Angie's A Quilting Reader's Garden and add your link sharing your applique project.
